Bill Passes House that Expands Americorps
Submitted by jon on Fri, 03/20/2009 - 10:58pmIn the 321 to 105 vote on March 18, 2009 the House voted to expand the AmeriCorps National Service organization. This bill will cost the taxpayer more than $1 billion per year for the next five years. AmeriCorps "volunteers" receive stipends for their work between $11,000 to $23,000 per year. Last time I checked, "volunteers" were not financially compensated.

Term limits have been placed on 15 state legislatures, eight of the ten largest cities in America adopted term limits for their city councils and/or mayor, and 37 states place term limits on their constitutional officers. A few states buck stem cell trend with bans
Submitted by jon on Tue, 03/17/2009 - 12:46amStem Cell research has been a hot topic for quite a while now. After the resent overturn of George W. Bush's policy which significantly limited the use of federal funding for research, President Obama has done more of what he calls restoring science to its place.
"Obama has left it up to the National Institutes of Health to control what scientists can do with federal money and opponents of embryonic stem cell research fear the NIH could open up the possibilities."
I'm sure science has never stepped over the moral line before just because the name of science and the greater good.

The 9-12 Project

According to the web site, The 9-12 Project is designed to bring people back to the place we were on September 12, 2001. The site states that on that day we were not Red States, or Blue States. We were not political parties. We were Americans standing together.
It is time that we stand united in principles and values that are powerful. No longer will people of principle be the silent majority in this country.

United States of America Constitution
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

The Nine Principles
1. America is good.
2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
